Joe Van Gogh Joins FairWave Espresso Collective in Newest Deal

FairWave Specialty Espresso Collective is buying North Carolina-based roaster and cafe chain Joe Van Gogh Espresso, rising FairWave’s footprint within the area following the 2025 acquisition of Raleigh’s Black & White Espresso Roasters.

Monetary phrases of the deal, introduced by FairWave on Feb. 2, weren’t disclosed. 

FairWave, primarily based in Kansas Metropolis and backed by Nice Vary Capital, mentioned its holdings now embrace 14 espresso, tea and bakery manufacturers working in additional than 40 cafes, roasteries and bakeries. FairWave manufacturers presently function within the regional markets of Kansas Metropolis, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Baltimore/Annapolis and North Carolina’s Triangle.

The corporate most lately acquired Milwaukee-area roaster and cafe chain Fiddleheads Espresso. 

Joe Van Gogh traces its roots to Raleigh, the place founder Robbie Roberts started roasting espresso in 1991. The corporate opened its first cafe in Chapel Hill in 1995 and has since grown right into a enterprise spanning cafes, wholesale, e-commerce, coaching and gear service, FairWave mentioned.

Joe Van Gogh’s web site lists six cafes in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, together with a UNC campus cafe, and roasting operations primarily based in Hillsborough.
