Project Hum Mumbai 2

A terracotta-lined path leads guests from a veranda-like entrance previous an open kitchen and communal worktable to a sunlit yard at Venture Hum, a 1,350-square-foot cafe in Mumbai.

Mumbai structure and inside design agency Kaviar:collaborative designed the second Venture Hum location as a bodily extension of the cafe’s farm-to-table culinary philosophy.

“The design is a confluence of latest types assembly vernacular, rustic supplies and textures,” Kaviar:collaborative companions and principal architects Kasturi Wagh and Vineet Hingorani advised DCN. “By incorporating pure, farm-inspired supplies akin to terracotta bricks, lime and concrete plaster partitions, [Indian Patent Stone] texture and touches of oak wooden, the area evokes a heat, natural attraction that displays the journey from farm to plate.”

The slim, linear website connects the road entrance to a yard on the reverse finish. Organizing the client and repair paths inside that footprint turned a central a part of the planning course of.

“The design embraces the idea of order inside chaos, thoughtfully zoning the area to replicate the pure stream of consumers and repair,” Wagh and Hingorani mentioned. “Zoning and planning have been essential in making a seamless journey via the area.”

The agency mentioned the design drew inspiration from a country farmhouse. Terracotta flooring continues to the open-kitchen counter, connecting the surfaces whereas reinforcing the visible stream via the cafe.

Completely different areas inside the cafe accommodate totally different sorts of visits and interplay. A pickup and takeaway window serves clients making fast visits, whereas seating reverse the open kitchen affords views of meals preparation.

Farther inside, the “Work from Hum” group desk sits towards a wall of greenery, offering a collaborative area for working and gathering. The trail concludes within the yard, the place daylight and surrounding crops create a quieter setting for leisurely eating.

An amphitheater within the yard doubles as seating and a versatile venue for small gatherings, workshops and different occasions.

“This multi-faceted design displays the ethos of the ‘hum’ group, offering an area the place everybody can really feel at residence, join, and develop,” Wagh and Hingorani mentioned.
